Dear Parents

We have just said goodbye to the last of the children who leave for a well-deserved summer break.  We wish them all a wonderful holiday and, to our Year 6 leavers, our very best wishes for their future.  They have been a splendid year group and will be greatly missed by all.

Speech Day & Prizegiving

We were delighted to welcome back our former pupil and Olympian, Goldie Sayers, who spoke with passion and filled the children with inspiration.  I was thrilled to hear that some of our youngest pupils are hoping to follow in her footsteps, both as a javelin thrower and an Olympian.

Sports Afternoon

We were blessed with lovely weather on Monday for this very special afternoon and it was wonderful seeing all the children participate in a wide variety of events with such gusto.  My thanks to all the parents who took part, to the delight of their children.  Particular thanks to the Smith family for their kind loan of their generator, making the PA system possible.

School Trip to Old Hunstanton

More sunny weather on Wednesday allowed the children the opportunity to make most of our annual day trip to Old Hunstanton.  The children had great fun building sandcastles, playing ball games and the older children enjoyed paddling in the sea.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Many thanks to the Parents’ Association for arranging this delightful event for all of the children in the Early Years.  As you can see from the photographs, everyone had a wonderful time.

High 5 Netball Tournament

On Tuesday, the U11 Mixed High 5 netball team took part in a Suffolk County Tournament in Ipswich.  The children played very impressively and displayed great teamwork and finished in a very creditable sixth place.  Thank you to all the parents and family members who came to along support.

Loom Bands

I am delighted to announce that, due to the enterprise and initiative of the Year 6 children, £463.75 has been raised towards the appeal for the grand piano.  More details on the appeal to follow next term.

Cross Country Training

We have a couple of cross country events coming up in September, including Gresham’s School Cross Country.  A letter will be shortly to sent to those children invited to take part at Gresham’s; however, please encourage your child to keep fit and practise their running skills over the summer to ensure that they are fit and ready to take part upon our return to school.

Holiday Work and Apps

All children have taken home some work to complete over the summer holidays, including a summer reading challenge, Mathletics and postcard writing.

As parents have enquired about different apps and educational games that children could be playing over the holidays, Miss Chloe Price has done some research into the matter.  Her suggestions are ‘Squeebles’ and ‘Teach Your Monster To Read’.

Squeebles has a range of different apps (spelling, addition and subtraction, bingo and fractions) that are all reasonably priced.

Teach Your Monster To Read is an app that helps children with phonics and learning tricky words
